GROWING SMITH ALLEY
Transforming the Alley into an edible work of art....
Rooted in Wyoming is a dedicated partner in building and nurturing school and community gardens. We encourage appreciation and stewardship of our natural environment, connections with our area history, and inter-generational learning and recreation. We promote resilient future generations by educating the whole child and providing access to fresh, local food.
Whether you want to dig in the dirt, water the growing plants, teach your little one about worms, or help harvest the goods… THERE IS A GARDEN FOR YOU. We have a number of gardens within the community that are always ready for your attention.

Great outdoor classrooms for students Reinforce math, science, nutrition awareness and many other topics taught in the classroom Provide students with a sense of ownership of their school and the greater community Help students become better environmental stewards and develop important skills such as patience, cooperation, teamwork, pride and volunteerism Children that are exposed to agriculture early on, are more likely to pursue some type of associated career.
We need your help as we work to plan and design your garden, collect materials (tools, wood for garden plots, soil, watering devices, baskets, fencing, equipment, etc.) and fund-raise. Our group is led by an all-volunteer board of directors, consisting of the parents, teachers, community members and invested organizations.
