Rooted in Wyoming mini-grants
Rooted in Wyoming offers matching mini-grants of up to $1,000 to support educational gardens, community gardens, and local food development projects across the state of Wyoming.
The grant window is open for the month of January, no late applications. Awards will be announced March 21.
These grants target initiatives that incorporate hands-on educational activities and promote local food development. Schools, community organizations, and local food businesses are eligible.
Target areas for mini-grant funding include:
Local food production projects (e.g. buying inputs, supplies, seeds, garden builds/improvements, developing a greenhouse, purchasing seeds);
Local food educational programming (e.g. after school programs, culinary classes, programs in school gardens, curriculum development);
Tuition for coursework, lessons, or workshops pertinent to local food development.
Examples of past mini-grant funded projects include funding for a greenhouse at the Evanston Youth Club, a hydroponics project at New West High School in Buffalo, the purchasing of gardening materials for upgrading numerous school and community gardens, installation of a new refrigerator to expand market capacity at a local food freedom store, and tuition to a community college for education in greenhouse management.
