Rooted in Wyoming Teaching Garden at Bridges
Garden Leader
Ian Cannon-Wallace // Programming & Outreach Coordinator
The Rooted in Wyoming Teaching Garden at Bridges is an exciting space for collaborative programs. This is the first garden that was planned by Rooted in Wyoming as its own programming space, with the intention of using it as a living classroom in collaboration with summer camp groups at Bridges among other groups.
Construction of the garden took place during the spring and summer of 2024, with major work day on June 14, when a team from Love, Tito’s traveled to Sheridan to join local volunteers in constructing raised beds. The garden includes 28 raised beds from Vego Garden, two Johnson-Su Composting bioreactors, and 24 grape vines inherited from the UW research vineyard. Major support for the Teaching Garden was provided by Love Tito’s, the Robbins Family Foundation, the Wold Foundation, and the Wyoming Hunger Initiative.
The Teaching Garden is intended to demonstrate a variety of successful gardening methods in the numerous beds, allowing for learning experiences that compare and contrast different gardening inputs. Produce is used for programming during summer camps, given to local schools, and donated to food banks.
