Rooted in Wyoming was excited to establish a partnership with the Sheridan VA in early 2022, in order to breath new life into this historic garden. The garden had become under-utilized, so RW paid to install new fencing, added mulch and compost, and hosted four extensive workdays. This large community-style garden has multiple community gardeners, and several recreational therapy classes utilizing plots and raised beds. The garden serves local veterans, VA patients, doctors, staff, and community members.
Rooted regularly helps with classes at the VA Greenhouse, including propagation, growing microgreens, and hydroponics.
Plans include building additional raised beds with wheelchair-accessible pathways and planting fruit trees. The long-term vision is for the Victory Garden to be a bountiful resource that will serve both the VA and Sheridan communities.
